The VIP-status is counted using VIP Player Points (VPPs) which are given in exchange of rake a player paid. The benefits of the PokerStars VIP Program include access to the VIP store which sells merchandise from poker books to PokerStars hoodies and from cookie baskets to Porsches! Depending on the VIP level, players may enter special tournaments exclusive to their VIP level.
The Program rewards active players as the higher VIP status a player has, the more Frequent Player Points (FPP) they receive when paying rake. These points can be used to enter tournaments or buy items in the VIP Store. These points should not be confused with VPPs which are merely a means to calculate players’ VIP Status level. The VPP counter for monthly VIP levels is reset every month.
Every player who enters a real money game on PokerStars will automatically be entered to the PokerStars VIP Program as a BronzeStar member. BronzeStar players gain access to the PokerStars VIP Store and some FFP buy-in tournaments.
The following PokerStars VIP levels (SilverStar, GoldStar and PlatinumStar) provide players with more benefits. VIP Store Merchandise exclusive to these levels becomes available and collecting FPPs is easier as the ratio of FPPs earned per VPP increases. The variety of VIP tournaments increases as players may register for special daily, weekly and quarterly VIP tournaments.
Supernova and Supernova Elite are yearly VIP levels which upon granting last for the remainder of the year regardless of the monthly VPP score. Players who reach these VIP levels receive the maximum VIP benefits which include an ability to use FPPs to buy into some of the biggest live tournaments and getting access to custom VIP merchandise!
PokerStars VIP Program
The PokerStars VIP program is one of the most robust and fully featured loyalty programs out there. It offers tremendous rewards to both casual and hardcore poker players, giving them access to dozens of free cash tournaments, cash rewards, and other prizes.
The PokerStars VIP program uses two different points systems to cover all if its rewards and options. First up are the VPP’s. These points are primarily used to determine your VIP level, as well as for releasing any deposit bonus you may be working towards. There are six VIP levels, including the bronze level which all players begin at, and as you collect VPP’s you advance to higher and higher levels, giving you access to new tournaments, new items in the rewards shop, and bonus multipliers on your collected FPP’s, the other VIP points system.
FPP’s are doled out exactly as VPP’s are, on a 1-1 ration to begin with. As you climb in VIP levels, you’ll receive more and more FPP’s per VPP earned. The first VIP level you can advance to, silver, rewards you 1.5 times the number of VPP’s earned in FPP’s. Further levels continue to raise the amount even further, up to an impressive 5 times the amount at Supernova VIP level. FPP’s are used to purchase free goodies in the VIP store, and to enter exclusive tournaments, of which there are dozens weekly.
The quality of a site’s VIP program figures heavily into its overall value, and PokerStars’ VIP program is without a doubt one of the best available. PokerStars was criticized in the past for resting on their laurels and getting stingy with their bonuses and rewards programs, but they’ve made tremendous strides in both areas recently to keep their players happy and entice thousands of new ones into the fold.
